Welcome traveler, I'm Darye đź‘‹
design philosophy
Given my industrial design studies from Georgia Tech and my inquisitive nature nurtured by my STEM background, I am passionate about questioning established mindsets and utilizing interdisciplinary research to create experiences that evoke joy and excitement. I strive to understand people's behaviors empathetically in order to embrace their concerns and design products that resonate with them.
My passions lie with designing for social impact to increase accessibility to resources for disproportionate communities and to help build a healthier, more equitable future for all. My best work shines when weaving user research, systems thinking, and design to create joyful experiences to brighten people's lives.
my mini story :)
Ever since I could remember, I valued words.
As a Korean American immigrant, I learned at an early age how to translate while being cognizant of the different connotations each word implies. Through this came my love for listening to stories and even storytelling myself. Perhaps it’s because of this that I find myself inevitably drawn to design: there are millions of people in this world, each with their own unique thoughts and situations. And yet, design is a universal language that has the power to connect all of us together.
I love how through design, I can listen to strangers’ stories, translate their pains into needs, and weave together a solution that’ll bring them satisfaction and joy. Design has the potential to revolutionize the way people perceive and interact with the world, and I can't wait to see how design will shape our future.
outside of design
I used to do competitive ballroom dancing, but have since then moved onto learning other styles of dancing such as hip-hop (you'd think dance skills would transfer oop-). After briefly messing around with fencing and jewelry-making, I found that the best hobbies for me are the simplest ones: reading and drawing with oil pastels.
